Sports Premium

At Whittingham Primary, we recognise the crucial role that Physical Education (PE) plays
in promoting the health and well-being of our students. We provide a broad, balanced,
and high-quality PE curriculum that positively influences our pupils’ concentration,
attitudes, academic achievement, and overall development.

Our commitment to keeping children active extends throughout the school day. Every
pupil participates in two PE sessions per week, where they engage in a variety of sports,
health, and fitness activities. These sessions are designed to develop physical skills,
encourage teamwork, and promote lifelong healthy habits.

In addition to the PE delivered by our experienced staff, we enhance our sports
provision through a wide range of extracurricular activities. Whittingham Primary is
proud to be part of the Waltham Forest Sport Network, which enriches our sports offer
and connects us with a community of active schools. The network, supported by a
School Games Organiser, coordinates events such as Multi Skills, Sports Hall Athletics,
Winter Games, and Football competitions, all of which our Key Stage 1 and Key Stage 2
pupils actively participate in.

We also foster strong partnerships within our local community. We work closely with
Leyton Orient Football Club, which regularly conducts workshops and player visits,
providing our students with inspiring opportunities. Furthermore, we are proud
supporters of the London Lions basketball team, offering our pupils the chance to
attend local matches and experience high-level sporting events.

At Whittingham Primary, we strive to create an environment where all students have the
opportunity to enjoy and excel in physical activity, both during and beyond the school
day.
